FOR THOSE NEW TO TNI
FOR Patty and other parents new to TNI. Let me introduce myself. I am Dixie Lawrence, biochemist and team member for Trisomy 21 Research. We developed TNI 24 years ago using a method to down regulate (kind of like turning off) over expressed genes. It is without a doubt the only place to start. The modern term for this kind of approach is “epigenics” but the more accurate terminology was coined by team member, W. James Croom, Phd who called this nothing short of a breakthrough in genetics and dubbed it “the manipulation of gene over expression through Targeted Nutritional Intervention”.
Patty, what is happening to your child is a typical problem for untreated children. Chidren simply begin to decline. This is an expected result of gene over expression and can occur when they are very young or thirty years down the road of life. But all untreated people with DS will experience changes in the brain that will alter their ability to function. As the child begins to age, plaque begins to form in the brain. This can and does occur in the first decade of life in some children. The gut microbiome is involved but no gut test, work on the gut, nothing except getting rid of that plaque and Down regulating the genes that have caused this will bring your child back. At the end of this post is a list of things you need to do ASAP. The longer you wait the harder your task.
All things aside NOTHING is as important as dealing with gene over expression. Let’s say you do nutrient or gut work ups first? Great but behind the scenes you have done nothing to effect these overactive genes. They are still pumping out excess proteins and standing in the way of any type of real progress.
Down syndrome is a neurodegenerative (progressive) disease. The word “syndrome ” is far too benign for the damage these genes do to both the child’s brain and body. As with so many neurological disorders, it begins with biochemistry. The brain is a marvelous computer, perfect and more advanced than anything the human mind will ever conceive of. Yet even the most perfect computer is only as good as its software.
In DS, the software is made of proteins, enzymes – gene products all made from four basic letters A, C, T and G. DNA is made up of molecules called nucleotides. Each nucleotide contains a phosphate group, a sugar group and a nitrogen base. The four types of nitrogen bases are adenine (A), thymine (T), guanine (G) and cytosine (C). The order of these bases is what determines DNA’s instructions, or genetic code. Computer programs are written with 1s and 0s. But the basic premise is the same. The number of ones and zeroes and how they are arranged determines how a program works. Add in too many ones and zeroes and the program will never work normally. This is very similar to what happens in DS, too much information has been inserted into the program.
A computer would chug along for a bit but ultimately it would collapse until the software problem is remedied. Oh, you could buy a new monitor, a new mouse, a new keyboard, put in a new memory chip but nothing would help if you allowed a faulty operating system to continue to run this computer. The smart thing a computer science geek would do is edit the excess information out of the system or destroy it and start all over. We cannot destroy the operating system in DS but we can edit out the excess information.
That is what TNI does. By carefully selecting nutrients that naturally inhibit certain genes and giving them in the exact order, exact synergy and exact amount, excess genes can be stopped from producing excess proteins. Everything we have done is supported by research. The results are more than impressive. In many cases, they are miraculous. For instance, babies who begin the protocol early and who’s parents are diligent in giving it correctly, walk right on time – not at 3 to 5 years. These kids are smart and capable, they integrate into the school systems without so much as the blink of an eye. They grow up verbal – often multilingual, get honest to goodness real diplomas, go to college, drive cars, get married, move away and make you wonder where those baby years have gone.
Your child deserves this chance in life. So do mine. I have a daughter and a granddaughter both with DS. Both are beautiful, intelligent girls. My daughter graduated in the top 5% of her regular high school (not special ed) and went on to work as a teacher’s aid for deaf students (she herself, is deaf) and then to become a Certified Life Guard. My granddaughter is only 12 and she is an excellent student, fully integrated into all regular classrooms. Her communication skills are normal. Her grades are terrific. And these two represent only a few success stories of kids who receive the appropriate treatment.
Do not put the cart before the horse. FIRST put your child on the protocol. Once you have done this, then you can begin to tweak or fine tune it knowing that while you are about these other things, excess genes are not interfering. For autistic like behaviors, put your child on VSL/Visbiome Probiotics. This can be done at the same time you start Nutrivene. You can opt for tests later but right now let’s get this child going in the right direction.
1) Call 1 800 899 3413 Ask for a free sample of Nutrivene Daytime formula. In your case, Patty, add Lycopene and a natural sugar called Trehalose together with VSL3/Visbiome Probiotics. Lycopene and Trehalose will actively work to break up plaque in the brain. We will help you with dosing.
2) Read all of the literature posted here on this group and on the website trisomy21research.org particularly the article on the glymphatic system. In DS, this system is not as effective as it should be. We know this due to the build up of heavy metals and bad bacteria in the DS brain. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that the blood brain barrier in DS is permeable. Things that normally would be prohibited by this protective barrier from infiltrating the brain have easy access to the entire central nervous system. We can repair the blood brain barrier but we also must help the glymphatic system do its job. This is particularly true if the child has been exposed to vaccines or other environmental toxins. The instructions for detox are at the end of the article.
3) Start slowly by introducing one part of the protocol, giving 1/4 of the recommended dosage for your child’s weight over a period of time until you have reached optimum dosage. In some children this takes days, in other, it takes longer. Remember that this isn’t a Nutritional program, you are normalizing your child’s biochemistry. You can begin Probiotics at the same time as the Daytime formula. Devon Chan will help you with dosages and has provided a calculator to help you.
4) For children with altered or weak immune systems, ultimately Nutrivene will strengthen it. While you are not on full dose you can add point three (.3) milligrams per kilogram of Beta Glucan 1-3. 1-6 by NOW or by Life Extension. This will immediately kick the immune response into high gear.
Over the next few months your child’s future will change. You can expect slow progress at first because you are going slowly but in time you will be faced with a whole new child, one you may not have known was so intelligent or so opinionated. Remember one thing, the way you respond to your child’s behavior is critical to his or her development. Treat them as you would your other children. Learn to expect correct behavior from them. Learn to expect excellence in their efforts if not in their abilities. In every way, but for a faulty operating system, your child is just a regular child, capable of anything.
